Delaware Together: Gaining Community Input for the New Comprehensive Plan

By August 23, 2018Project Updates

Delaware Together—an effort to create a new city-wide plan that reflects community ideas and insights for the future—recognizes the City is a highly desirable place to live in Ohio. With well-established neighborhoods, an authentic downtown and other assets, Delaware’s population has seen a large increase of 32.8% of residents from 2000 to 2016.

This process aims to take action on how to shape future growth and change in the community. Delaware Together kicked off in July 2018 with 32 community members selected to provide guidance and insight as part of the process’s steering committee. The City’s consultant team, led by Planning NEXT, includes McBride Dale Clarion, Randall Gross / Development Economics and Tischler Bise.

On September 13th, the City of Delaware will launch into Round 1 of the public engagement phase. This will include five workshops hosted throughout the community and an online survey. During these interactive workshops, community members will have the opportunity to share their vision through small group work and a mapping exercise. The online survey will be conducted after the workshops to collect additional input. The ideas shared will be used to help shape the goals and preliminary focus areas for the new comprehensive plan.
