By September 19, 2022Staff Activity

We are pleased to share that three dedicated and talented planners have joined our team: Shelby Oldroyd, Gabrielle Smith, and Bailey Morlan!

Shelby first came to Planning NEXT as an intern in 2021 while she was a graduate student in the City and Regional Planning program at The Ohio State University. Since joining our team in May, she has already made a mark by engaging with enthusiasm and applying her outstanding organizational skills, whether planning for age-friendly communities in the City of Akron, Ohio, or supporting strategic plans for Elkhart County, Indiana, and Findlay, Ohio. When she isn’t working, you can find her hiking, kayaking, or exploring area restaurants. In addition to her Masters from OSU, Shelby holds a B.A. in International Studies and a B.A. in Arabic from The Ohio State University

A native of Columbus, Gabrielle joined our team after working in Grandview Heights, Ohio, for just under a year. In addition to her Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University, Gabrielle has embraced her love of the creative arts, choosing to spend her free time writing short stories and playing guitar. She is excited to start her professional career at our practice, where she can bring her passion for people-driven planning and sustainability to any community in which he works. Gabrielle is supporting a range of projects, including LinkUS, Central Ohio’s growth and mobility initiative.

Bailey has joined the team from the City of Johnstown, Ohio, where she acted as the city planner for three years. She is excited to use her experience in community development and economic regeneration to help more cities and neighborhoods create a strong sense of place and build unique spaces where residents feel connected to their communities. Bailey is supporting FRAMEWORK in Licking County, Ohio, as well as a new comprehensive plan for the City of Grand Rapids, Michigan. After earning her bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University, Bailey traveled to the University of Glasgow for her master’s degree in City Planning and Regeneration. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family in her free time.
