Shortly after the City of Columbia hired the Clarion Team (with planning NEXT) to facilitate their Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code update, Richland County awarded the team with a contact to facilitate their own plan update. In an unprecedented expression of cooperation between the County and City, the two jurisdictions have planned a shared community engagement effort to gather public input that will shape growth in the city and county for years to come.
With guidance from planning NEXT, they’ve branded the process “Plan Together” and launched a website to spread the word about the effort and track the progress of both plans. www.weplantogether.org. A set of Community Conversations in April will start the public involvement process for Richland County.
