
A vibrant suburb of Indianapolis, Plainfield is home to the Indianapolis region’s largest warehousing and distribution center. It boasts a high quality of life for residents, strong fiscal health, and a responsive and proactive local government. However, in 2023, the Town decided it wanted to raise the bar and further capitalize on its many assets. The first step? A new comprehensive plan that would focus on community character to elevate the quality of new development and strategically direct growth and change. The Town engaged Planning NEXT, with Ninigret Partners, to undertake the planning process for the Town called Thrive! Plainfield.
Plainfield’s strategic location, nestled near Indianapolis and close to vital infrastructure like the Airport, has long benefited the Town. A major focus of the Thrive! Plainfield Plan is on aligning land use, infrastructure, and economic development policies in order to strengthen the Town’s economy and enhance the community’s overall allure. Since 2016, Plainfield has experienced a tremendous amount of industrial, commercial, and residential growth, and as a result, the plan aims to push boundaries, incentivizing deliberate, high-quality development that resonates with the evolving needs of the Town and bolsters its desirability as a place to live, work, and invest.
Thrive! Plainfield is set to culminate in the Summer 2024. Planning NEXT has been enthused to work with Plainfield as the Town seeks to transform itself into a model community, grounded in thoughtful planning and dynamic growth.
