Bloom Township Comprehensive Plan
The Bloom Township Comprehensive Plan is a process to set the long-term direction for Bloom Township that reflects the community’s values and priorities. The Comprehensive Plan will reflect the values, priorities, and aspirations of the Bloom Township community. Developed through a combination of technical analysis and public input, it will serve as a long-term roadmap for land use, rural character and environmental conservation, infrastructure, and economic development decisions. Robust community engagement and transparent communication will be central to the process.
The planning process will be used to identify goals for land use and related desired polices, programs, and projects over the next ten years. It will determine implementable strategies that will allow the community to leverage its many assets and address its greatest challenges.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A comprehensive plan is a long-term guide that expresses the values and aspirations of a community. It is the broadest public policy document a community can create for its future physical development considering the input of citizens, businesses, and other stakeholders. The plan is a tool to prepare for change and acts as a guide for decision-makers. The plan is not a legally binding document, but it can serve as a foundation for budgeting decisions, zoning ordinances, land development regulations and more.
Why does Bloom Township need a Comprehensive Plan?
Bloom Township is now faced with significant development pressure that calls for updated tools that will allow the Township to proactively manage that change. A new plan is needed to reflect current trends and priorities while being focused on the future. Regular planning represents good stewardship and establishes a foundation for well-supported policies to create the best possible future.
How can I get involved?
This is an open and inclusive process. There will be two series of public input opportunities held during the planning process. Anyone who cares about the future of Bloom Township will be able to participate and contribute their ideas and insight. Information on opportunities will be provided on this web page and will be notified via our email list. Please sign up above!
Who is funding this effort?
The plan is being funded as part of the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission’s (MORPC) Get Ready Initiative aimed at identifying transportation infrastructure and planning needs for the area within a 40-minute drive time of Intel, the New Albany Technology Manufacturing District (TMD). In early 2024, MORPC, in coordination with and funded by ODOT, launched the Get Ready Initiative, a long-range planning effort for the area within a 40-minute drive of Intel and the New Albany Technology Manufacturing District (TMD). Bloom Township is also an approximately 20-minute drive from the new Anduril facility in Pickaway County. As part of this process, planning needs within the area that is experiencing significant development were assessed. MORPC determined that there is a need for planning assistance across the region. Through a competitive selection process, selected Bloom Township as a model community for a planning process that can serve as a roadmap for other communities in the region. Planning NEXT and Burgess & Niple are the consultants facilitating this work.
