Grove City Gearing-Up for Growth

By July 12, 2016Project Updates

The GroveCity2050 initiative is currently underway!

Facilitated by Planning NEXT, the GroveCity2050 planning process will utilize the findings of MORPC’s insight2050 to update the City’s policies, ordinances and regulations in order to ensure that Grove City is strategically positioned to accommodate the region’s changing demographics and population growth.

“We want to collect the appropriate analytical information as to what kind of development from the taxpayers and citizens standpoint makes the most sense,” Mayor Ike Stage said.

Ultimately, GroveCity2050 will focus on land use, transportation and economic development. A diverse citizen Steering Committee will help guide the process, with their first meeting scheduled to be held on July 13, 2016. Over the next few months, two public meetings, accompanied by online opportunities, will be held to gather input from the larger community.

The community is already getting excited for the planning process, as evidenced by the submission of more than 90 applications to the Steering Committee and recent media coverage in This Week Community News.

GroveCity2050 is the most recent initiative undertaken as part of a long-standing relationship between Planning NEXT and Grove City. Past work by Planning NEXT for the community has included form-based regulations for the city’s historic Town Center, a Vision Charrette for the Town Center, a Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan and the Land Development Framework for a Thoroughfare Plan Update.
