Each year for the past 12 years, the American Planning Association (APA) has named specific neighborhoods, streets and public spaces as Great Places in America. These places make our communities strong and bring people together through good planning and good policy. This year, we are pleased to see our community and our clients on this list!
The Short North Arts District in Columbus was honored as a Great Neighborhood where artistic culture and small businesses are celebrated. This is due to dedicated community members and organizations that have spearheaded reinvestment while working to retain the area’s unique, historic character. We are fortunate to call the Short North our home at Planning NEXT and proud to have worked closely with the Short North Alliance for over five years, facilitating annual Board retreats and assisting with pre-planning work, which has been focused on enhancing this special neighborhood as a vibrant, creative and inclusive community.
We are also thrilled to share that our client, the City of Delaware, was also recognized for Historic Downtown Delaware as a Great Neighborhood. The revitalization of and investment in Downtown Delaware has made it a destination for residents and visitors. Currently, we are working with the City of Delaware on Delaware Together, the process to create a new city-wide plan that builds on assets like Downtown and answers questions key questions about where and how the City should grow.
