On July 31st the North Olmsted community came together to share their ideas about the future of the city. At the What Do You Think Workshop, Participants individually ranked community value and goal statements which were derived from the What’s Next Workshop held in May. They then worked in groups to brainstorm about specific actions (programs, policies or projects) to improve certain aspects of the community such as strengthening quality of place, advancing prosperity, improving housing choices, leveraging infrastructure and enhancing amenities. The evening wrapped up with a group mapping exercise where participants indicated strong places, and weak places in the community and then discussed why each area was ranked weak or strong.
The participants who attended the workshop represented diverse backgrounds from age and tenure in North Olmsted, to race and ethnicity. The next step for Go North Olmsted will be for the Committee for the Future, the citizen steering committee, to review all the ideas and mapping input to begin to craft the land use recommendation and specific actions for the 2015 Master Plan. There will be community Open House in the fall to share the draft plan with the public.
