Central Ohio Greenways Board embarks on strategic action plan

Based on the recent findings of insight2050, Central Ohio is poised to grow by more than 500,000 people over the next 30+ years. The demographic groups most likely to grow, aged 16-34 and over 65, are looking for more walkable communities with increased transportation alternatives. These interests are fueling a desire to expand and enhance Central Ohio’s trail system. In response to this focus, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) recently established the Central Ohio Greenways Board to guide the stewardship and development of the region’s trail network.

Planning NEXT is now working with the Central Ohio Greenways Board on a long-term strategic action plan to guide the Board’s operations and workplan. Key tasks will include a comparison of the organization to similarly sized regional trail-focused organizations and a validation of the organization’s vision and mission. This work, which will be completed in approximately four months, will support the Board’s focus on developing the world-class trail system that so many in the growing region desire.
