An Evening of “What’s Next?” for Anderson (Township) Tomorrow

By July 1, 2016July 6th, 2016Project Updates

As an invitation to all who care about Anderson Township, Ohio, the “What’s Next?” Workshop was an opportunity to help envision an even better place in 2026 and identify areas of real opportunity for a better tomorrow.  Over 120 township residents, business owners, and friends joined the discussion at the two-hour workshop.  The activities resulted in over 400 comments that begin to define direction and focus areas including alternative modes of transportation, diversifying housing options, and attracting unique businesses—all in line with future trends.  The 30-member Steering Team will work to create (and improve upon existing) initiatives to be included in the plan based this community input.  For those who were unable to attend the workshop, there is a follow-up online survey opportunity to collect even more feedback from those who know Anderson best!

Anderson Tomorrow is about making a great place even better!  This spring, Anderson Township began a six-month long process to review its Comprehensive Plan, which was initially adopted in 2005. The first update was completed in 2011, and a number of the recommendations contained in that plan have been completed or are ongoing.  With the success and implementation of the previous plan and in recognizing changing regional and national trends, it is time for the Anderson community to review the Township’s direction and strategies.  Engagement from the community on topics such as transportation, economic development, development & land use, housing, and infrastructure, will be invaluable to the Township’s advancement.

The Planning NEXT team, including Jamie Greene and Sarah Bongiorno (who is an Anderson native!), are excited to keep the momentum moving as the process for Anderson Tomorrow continues.
