Congratulations to the City of Columbia and Richland County, South Carolina! Plan Together: Put the Pieces in Place, the joint comprehensive planning process for the City and the County, has been awarded the 2016 Award for Outstanding Multijurisdictional Planning Project from the South Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association. Clarion Associates led the consultant team’s work for the County’s planning effort, while McBride Dale Clarion led the City’s Land Use Plan. Planning NEXT spearheaded the process branding and public engagement for both plans.
The unprecedented collaborative planning process led to the development of two unique plans with unifying goals and policies that will guide the future of the City and County. The plans were adopted by each jurisdiction in 2015 and have led to new zoning ordinances to promote their implementation.
