This summer, we have been fortunate to have four enthusiastic, smart and dedicated planning interns—all students at The Ohio State University studying or involved in City and Regional Planning—assisting our important work with communities! We are so grateful for Sam, Mose, Kevin, and Devin (from left to right).
Kevin Block
Kevin has a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and worked as a user research engineer in the automotive industry for four years before deciding to make the transition to city and regional planning. He started his graduate degree in city and regional planning at Ohio State University in January of 2020 and is set to graduate in December of 2022. He has been with Planning NEXT for just over a year.
Recently, Kevin has spent his time helping organize community engagement activities, maintaining project websites, and creating maps for various projects. Pioneering the use of some innovative online tools like Airtable and MapBox have also been a main focus. When he isn’t working, studying, or doing research for OSU Kevin enjoys cycling around the city and going on long backpacking trips.
Mose Lattimore
Mose in currently in his 2nd year at OSU/Knowlton’s Master of City & Regional Planning Program with a graduate minor in Public Policy and Management. Mose also has a Bachelor’s degree in City & Regional Planning from Knowlton.
He has a passion for public policy, economic development, and community outreach, and his goal is to understand the shared relationship between public sector officials and private sector consulting. This summer, Mose helped kick off the comprehensive plan update process for Overland Park, Kansas. He also assisted in creating engagement activities for Downtown Montgomery, Alabama as well as finalization/implementation items for LaGrange County, Indiana. Outside of work, Mose enjoys traveling, playing guitar, trying new foods, and walking his dog Henry.
Sam Rice
Sam is currently an undergraduate at OSU pursuing a degree in Environment, Economy, Development, & Sustainability with a minor in City & Regional Planning.
He is passionate about emphasizing equity in the planning process to ensure sustainable development of communities. This summer, Sam got the chance to assist in a multitude of pop-up engagement events in Elkhart, Indiana, Chillicothe, Ohio, and Hilliard, Ohio. He enjoys any opportunity to talk and engage with members of the community. In his free time Sam likes to hike, cook, and tend to his houseplants.
Devin Brown
Devin is currently an undergraduate at The Ohio State University pursuing a degree in Real Estate and Urban Analysis with a minor in City and Regional Planning.
He is passionate about people and improving the communities in which they live. Devin assisted on projects including Columbus State Community College’s Capital Improvement Plan and FRAMEWORK in Licking County.
