North Olmsted, OH
Planning a “fun” process
It was important for this project to not only have an open, transparent and inclusive process, but also a fun one. Three public meetings were conducted which gathered input from the public in a variety of ways, including a fast paced trivia game focused on the community’s existing conditions, an interactive mapping activity and a small group idea generation brainstorm. A citizen steering committee was formed (The Committee for the Future) which met regularly throughout the process to provide input, conduct outreach and publicity and represent the authentic voice of North Olmsted.

A Strategic Master Plan
Intended to be more strategic than past plans, the 2015 Master Plan’s Action Agenda includes five topics that organize 54 actions to advance the community.
The Conceptual Framework Map (part of the Strengthening Quality of Place topic) shows current community assets and catalytic development areas, which are areas of the city where change is recommended.
